I believe that my blog has now added a new branch of discussion. While I’ve focused on bicycles, motorcycles, and skateboards for the past few decades, the last year has attracted a new topic; academia and studentry. I am, without a doubt, not an academic but I’ve been adjacent for two decades with my work at San Francisco State University. When I arrived, this institution was beginning to fail. Now it is gasping and grasping for it’s last moments of life. Watching this has been educational for me so it could be said that they have ‘taught’ me.

A recent post on the student advice and the roaming eyes in the hallway of the returning student caused them to contact me.
I’ve been trying to do some subversive work here at the university. Standing by and watching the failure and malfeasance of this place doesn’t agree with my programing. I’ve been trained as a man of action. ‘Doing something’ is almost always better than doing nothing. Harry Truman said “Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.” What have I been trying to do? That’s difficult to describe here now but I could generally say that “get them to start thinking” would be descriptive. Few here have learned to do that. There has to be a way to get a college student to begin thinking. I’m convinced of that.
Anyway, Zack Davis found his way to my blog and the post noted above. Zack is different to many of those that I have discussions with as he’s an experienced blogger and writer himself. We talk about many different issues. Math, school, trans, freedom fries.
